Yearly Progress Pro (YPP)

Piqua City Schools began using YPP in the 2006-2007 school year.  All students in grades 1 through 6 participate in YPP.  General level students use YPP in grades 7 and 8.

Students take a grade level Curriculum Based Measurement (CBM) assessment consisting of 30 questions weekly and are expected to complete the assessment in a 15 minute time frame.

The attached excel documents below are used by students and teachers to record weekly CBM scores and be able to monitor progress at an individual level as well as at the class level.

Students who earn several scores of 25 or more on their weekly CBM are provided the opportunity to advance to a higher grade level CBM challenge.  Students who struggle to earn points on their grade level CBM are provided the opportunity to move to a lower grade level temporarily in order to gain strength on below grade level skills.

Exercises are assigned to students who are struggling with skills related to the questions not answered correctly on weekly CBMs.  Each exercise has instructional, practice features as well as a set of 6 follow up questions to monitor achievement.

The auto assign exercise feature works like this:

1. Auto assignment only work for students who have taken 4 or more CBM tests.

2. Auto assignment is automatically disabled for students who have 15 or more exercises in their queue.

3. Assignments are made if skill mastery is red and skill is not in the queue.

4. No assignments will be made for partial or no mastery skills.

5. System will not allow duplicate open assignments for a skill.
